28th Annual Town Hall
The Pinal County Town Hall Advisory Committee, led by Sandie Smith, is busy putting the finishing touches on the 28th Annual Town Hall. The upcoming event will be held Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Poston Butte High School at 32375 N. Gantzel Road in San Tan Valley, Arizona.
Each year Pinal County Town Hall brings together approximately 140 leaders from across Pinal County to discuss a current issue. It is a wonderful opportunity to network and meet others from throughout the county and discuss issues of local concern. Participants make recommendations to address the issue in our county and their own communities. In the past 27 years, attendees have addressed issues ranging from education to economic development. (For a complete list of past topics click on the “Archive” tab.)
This year the Town Hall’s theme is “Where Your Tax $ Goes!” On Thursday, October 22nd attendees will hear from state and local experts addressing state and county budgets. Later panels with representatives from municipalities, school districts, and special districts will discuss the importance of services provided by taxes collected by Pinal County. A representative from the Arizona Tax Research Association will offer comments from a different perspective.
Nearly 30 of our yearly participants are local high school and college youth. The Advisory Committee believes it is critical to include Pinal County’s youth leaders. Through the Wayne G. Gerken Foundation, Pinal County Town Hall is able to offer scholarship(s) to participating Town Hall youth who submit essays on an aspect of the event’s topic.
A Pre-Event Reception and Networking Event will be held Wednesday evening 5-7 pm hosted by LB Cantina located at 695 S. Main Street in Florence. This will give Town Hall delegates the opportunity to meet the following day’s speakers and Town Hall Advisory Committee members. (Dinner is on your own.)
Rooms at a special rate to Town Hall delegates have been offered by the Holiday Inn Express in Florence located at 240 W. Highway 287. For reservations call 520-868-9900 and mention Pinal County Town Hall.
